Cow Protection Importance of the Cow and Her Protection Quotes from the scriptures Protection of Cows is the single-most important principle towards saving the whole world from both moral and spiritual degradation. Simply by protection of Cows all the wonderful benefits of religiosity and piety will be automatically achieved without any separate endeavor. This is because Cows are as beloved to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Krishna, as even saintly brahmanas. In scriptures it is said, namo brahmanya-devaya go-brahmana-hitaya ca jagad-dhitaya krsnaya govindaya namo namah, "My Lord, You are the well-wisher of the Cows and the brahmanas, and You are the well-wisher of the entire human society and world." (Visnu Purana ) Lord Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the prime protector of brahminical culture and the Cow. Without knowing and respecting these pleasing personalities, one cannot realize the science of God, and without this knowledge, any welfare activities or humanitarian propaganda cannot be successful. Krishna says in Srimad Bhagavatam, “I can be worshiped within the Cows by offerings of grass and other suitable grains and paraphernalia for the pleasure and health of the Cows, and one may worship Me within the Vaishnavas by offering loving friendship to them and honoring them in all respects.” The Cow is the most important animal for developing the human body to perfection. The body can be maintained by any kind of foodstuff, but Cow's milk is particularly essential for developing the finer tissues of the human brain so that one can understand the intricacies of transcendental knowledge. A civilized man is expected to live on foodstuffs comprising fruits, vegetables, grains, sugar and milk. The Bull helps in the agricultural process of producing grain, etc., and thus in one sense the Bull is the father of humankind, whereas the Cow is the Mother, for she supplies milk to human society. A civilized man is therefore expected to give all protection to the Bulls and Cows. About Goshala or Gaushala:GoShala or GauShala, a Sanskrit word, means the adobe or sancturay for the cows and its progeny as calves and oxen. (In Sanskrit, Go or Gau means Cow, Shala means a sanctuary). Named after Sant Bhuriya Baba Go Seva Samiti. Under the guidance of Villagers and with the help of hundreds of volunteers, Sant Bhuriya Baba Go Seva Samiti today cares for over 600* animals - including cows, calves and bulls . The Goshala the Holy, intellectual & spiritual complex being made to know about our Universal Mother "THE COW" in our fast kaluga life. It is the concept of the need for dissemination of knowledge on which the center is based. Sant Bhuriya Baba Go Seva Samiti (or Gaushala) is the sanctuary or the abode for old, sick, abandoned and stray animals, especially cows and its progeny. Apart from this, the Goshala also rescues the animals meant for illegal and merciless slaughtering, after being transported in cattle lorries under extremely cruel conditions with no food and water for days, standing huddled together, stamped to unconsciousness or death, made to walk for miles with starvation. The Goshala is run in the town of Harsolaw (located in the West Indian state of Rajasthan) and an effort to care for these kinds, innocent, gentle and lovely animals that today are the victims and a gainful conduit for so many unlawful means. In this Goshala, we are trying to serve the noble cause of cow protection in a humble way. In this Goshala, the Cows, Bulls and Calves are looked after with great care and love. These animals are never sold to slaughter houses or abandoned even when they become old. They are maintained till the end of their lives very happily. Goseva means serving the cows. Bhagavat Geeta describes how Lord Krishna cared for the cows and calves every morning, by taking them to graze on the Govardhana hill. We should also try to serve the cows with similar attitude - by providing means for their food, shelter and medication. Our mission is to care for stray, abandoned cows, bulls, retired oxen, and orphaned calves. We provide them hay, flour, fresh grass, clean water, medical attention and a place where they can recuperate from injuries and stay peacefully. At present we host a herd of over 600 cows. But there are thousands of cow requiring attention and unless protected, they are destined to subsist on refuse and become plagued by various debilitating and often terminal diseases, suffer injury from careless motorists, or worse, be abducted and transported in very inhumane ways to the growing number of modern slaughterhouses. Thus there is an urgent need to act. You can participate by helping Our Mission To propagate and promote love for the cow and its virtues. To make cow-protection a people's movement. To work for the protection and conservation of cow. To campaign against the cruelty to cow and its progeny. Come, join in our mission and make it yours too!!This is what you can do….. For all medical services, we have to take the sick cattle to the government run dispensary. This is a huge effort on the part of the sick animal, and the volunteers as well. We seek an in-house veterinarian. We do not have any means of transportation for the sick or stray cattle. All transport is arranged by the volunteers and this often leads to delay. Help us build our infrastructure - in the form of land, building, transportation, veterinary dispensary, fodder and fodder machines, hayshed’s or clean drinking water. `60/- can help feed a cow for a day, while ` 21000/- can help sustain her for a year.
